Why It's Important

Each social media network has its own image dimensions for displaying images and videos across both desktop and mobile devices. Selecting the correct image size for each specific social media network ensures that you post images appear without any white spaces or grey spots. To put this into perspective and to give you an idea of how messy it can potentially look, we’ve pulled a few screenshots from British Airways LinkedIn page:

Useful Social Media Tools

If you’re unsure how to resize each image for each specific social network or if you simply don’t have the the time to sit and resize 100’s of images (who does!), you’ll be pleased to know that Sprout Social offer a Free Image Resizing tool which automatically resizes images based on your selected social media networks. Simply upload your images, select your networks and the image resizer will do the rest.

Have a fully stocked album of images to post to your social networks can be a challenge, especially if your images are of poor quality. If that is the case, we recommend using a mix of both paid stock images and your own images (where possible) to ensure that your posts are gaining the maximum reach. Many websites offer paid stock images, but we highly recommend ShutterStock for the quality of images and videos they provide.
